Make Do and Mend Day! Sunday April 14th at Green Park Station, Bath

We’re delighted to announce that our April market is dedicated to all things textile and DIY in a crafty sense, as well as having our usual array of brilliant artisans, vintage sellers and artists and of course our delicious gourmet food stalls!

Our April 14th market has a Make Do and Mend twist- The Big B... on Twitpic

This month we are also joined by Bath Spa Uni students, the Happy Inkers, who teach screenprinting in their spare time and who are currently working with Julian House clients. They are running free workshops for children all day, plus showing adults how to print their own tote bag for just £5 (bag included).

We are also running a clothes swap to raise money for Julian House. Bring your pre-loved items along and they will be checked over for quality. If they are in a good condition they will go on a rail and you can choose the same number of items that others have donated.

However, if your items are a bit on the well-worn side you can always take them over to The Big Mend sewing collective, who’ll be at the market on the 14th April with plenty of mending advice. They’ll even have all their kit with them so you can do some there and then with expert help.

So – to summarise, this is what is happening!

The Big Bath Clothes Swap – ALL DAY

Lots of lovely clothes in your wardrobe that you don’t wear anymore? Bring them along in a good condition (ironed and cleaned preferably) to our Big Bath Clothes Swap on April 14th on the main market square at Green Park Station. Our lovely assistant will check them over and if she thinks them good enough to pass on to someone, she’ll give you one ticket per item that you can use to swap there and then for the same number of items left by others. Or you can save your tickets and come back later – although the tickets are only valid on that day. So come, on, bring your unwanted threads – they are someone else’s treasure – and find some gems of your own.

£5 to participate with 50% going to Julian House (and the other half to our assistant and for the rail hire). If you would like more information please email

FREE mending advice in our pop-up workshop

Bring along your mending to Bath’s sewing collective The Big Mend for on-the-spot advice and skills. This group usually meet once a month both in Bath and Bradford on Avon and are absolutely free to join. Go to for more details. But come and talk to them about what they do on the 14th
