From June 2016 we will be running two markets per month, with as many special events as we can. Come join us!
We’re never happier than when we find a new entertainment we can offer kids, so we were really excited to meet Mike Sawyer of Brick Party, whose son Damien regularly trades with us as graphic illustration company, Flab Design.
Mike had been collecting Lego for years but decided to share his passion with today’s youngsters earlier this year, when he launched Brick Party. We are delighted that he is running FREE parties at our markets on September 13th and October 11th 2015 when he’ll be bringing along A LOT of Lego and letting imaginations run wild and will even hand out prizes for those he is particularly impressed with. Come and find him (and his Lego) on the main floor between 11am-3pm.
[Update: Our September 13th party was so successful that Mike was busy building Lego with kids all day – see below for the evidence!]
HOW TO BOOK A PRIVATE LEGO PARTY WITH BRICK PARTY
If you enjoy the party at the market and want to book your own, ring or email Mike to check availability. Once the party is confirmed with us you should then proceed to book the venue, usually a school or church hall or he can come to you if you have enough space. He’ll arrive 30 minutes before the party starts and then lead the event for an hour, leaving plenty of time for food and of course the all important birthday cake.
The most popular parties are:
- Racing Cars – After starting with a few games to get the fingers warmed up we get to build our race cars and race them down the ramp to find the champion.
- Spaceships -Who can build the best spaceship? Use your imagination to make magical creations to take the astronauts out to the depths of space.
Parties cost £145.00 for up to 10 children, maximum 20 children
For more information come to the Bath Artisan Market on September 13th and October 11th between 11am-3pm or visit the Brick Party website.
Read on to find out more about London based fashion line, Masato London, who will be joining us on Sunday April 12th 2015. The label has links to Bath and is fronted by designer Japanese born Masato Jones (pictured). Interview by Carla Stobbs.
Who are you and where are you based?
Masato is a brand based in Paddington, London, that creates T-shirts & sweatshirts that fund our 1st line of women’s & menswear.
Where do you get your inspiration?
The line which we sell in Bath is based on anything that takes my fancy. Usually quirky drawings of animals such as the popular penguin to a Guitar or a Sax. I try to do different designs at different times and hope they like it. The current T-shirt Steer (above) comes from a steer skull, which I tried to make it look not so gruesome.
We will have new T-shirt lines at £25 clearance sweatshirts at £25 & clearance T-shirts at £15.
All our products are limited edition however our best seller of all time is our Penguin sweatshirt (see above).
On Sunday April 12th we’re thrilled that our venue’s resident juice bar, Beyond the Kale is joining forces with us for our Super Spring Special and giving away free superfood juice shots outside their shop in Green Park Station. They are also giving away lunch for two – read on to the end find out how to enter…
In case you’re yet to visit them, Beyond the Kale is run by husband and wife team Mark and Ayshea Hawthorn who are brilliant examples of living healthily – they are full of energy and style and not at all earnest in their approach, attracting many customers to their store which they set up 18 months ago.
“The ethos of our organic juice bar and plant-based whole foods shop is to celebrate the power of food and how it can fuel the mind, body and soul” explains Mark. “We believe that to live a vibrant, active and creative life it all starts with what you eat and drink” explains Mark. “Our business was born from our own desire to eat well and live better and we first trialled the idea of selling healthy, freshly-blended drinks at market stalls – the response was amazingly positive!”
Now doing a roaring trade at Green Park in a permanent shop, one of Beyond the Kale’s most popular options in the shop is raw, organic cacao which they blend into drinks and melt into delicious superfood treats. Says Mark: “Cacao is richer in magnesium, calcium and zinc than all other superfoods and basically tastes like chocolate.”
Sounds as delicious and good-for-you as everything else they sell! On April 12th you’ll be able to sample the following:
Cacao with almond milk and raw honey: Rich in magnesium, calcium and zinc and tastes delicious!
Acai with berries and banana: High in anti-oxidants and rich in Omega 3 to boost brain health and skin rejuvenation
Spirulina, ginger and orange: Packed with vitamin A, Chorophyl and iron and aids detoxification.
Definitely a recipe for a great day out! But if you can’t make Sunday April 12th, you can always visit Beyond the Kale any day of the week, 9am-5.30pm Monday-Friday, 8.30-5pm on Saturdays and 10-4pm on Sundays. Visit their Facebook page here

Read on to find out about a mother and daughter team making and selling gorgeous gemstone jewellery and trading with us for the first time on April 12th 2015.
Who are you?
We are Pauline Sylvia Designs – a mother and daughter team who have been working together for 18 months. Mum (Pauline Sylvia) is the designer and I (Lisa) look after the business side, running the stall and marketing/social media.
What do you make?
Genuine gemstone jewellery – bracelets, necklaces and earrings. They are beautiful, feminine, timeless and classic pieces of jewellery using only genuine gemstones and freshwater pearls.
What inspires the designs?
The gemstones are the starting point for every piece. We have a massive, constantly growing, selection of genuine gemstones and semi-precious stones from all over the world and are completely fascinated by their natural beauty. It’s amazing to think that something so stunning has been created through various conditions in the earth and the end result is a unique and precious gemstone. Some of the stones like Labradorite, Moonstone and Opal have some stunning optical properties and are a joy to work with.
Our visitors can meet you on April 12th – but where else can they find you?
Lots of our customers buy directly from us through our Facebook page www.facebook.com/paulinesylviadesigns. We post all our new pieces on here and have albums of pieces made and ready for delivery. We also hold jewellery parties which are a lovely social able evening where we visit your house and set up our jewellery display, there is no hard sell or pressure to buy and customers can browse and try on at their leisure whilst enjoying a glass of wine and a chat. The hostess receives a commission from sales on the night to spend on jewellery and a free gift for kindly agreeing to host us.
Tell us about your best-sellers
Our 925 Sterling Silver and genuine Pearl bracelet has been the best seller and always received great feedback and comments (pictured below).
The quickest selling piece is our black Agate bracelet, we made 3 of these and within 15 minutes of posting a picture on our Facebook page had sold them all (see picture attached from the post). Amethyst is the most popular gemstone, its easily recognisable and its lovely lilac and purple colour tones a favourite with our customers. Prices start at £5 for Silver or Gold Plated earrings and bracelets, up to £60 for a genuine pearl necklace using Gold Vermeil.
Pauline Sylvia Designs join the Bath Artisan market for the first time on April 12th 2015.

After the success of their first performance at our Folk Festival Market last August and their subsequent appearance at our Autumnfest last October, vibrant folk trio Kadia are back with us for a special free lunchtime gig at our April 12th market, promoting their debut album, East of Alexandria.
Chris Bailey, Lee Cuff and David Hoyland who make up this acoustic band from Bournemouth are looking forward to it too, explaining:
“We’re really excited to be coming back to the Artisan Market as part of the album launch tour, it’s a great gig and we always have fun playing here.”
If you didn’t manage to catch them last year, their sound is contemporary melodic foot-stomping folk and is certain to get you dancing! They create their own unique brand of contemporary folk music while putting their own spin on popular covers – our favourite from 2014 was was Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ and we can’t wait to see what they bring to the next market, where we’re sure they’ll have albums on sale too.
Have a sneak peek of their new single ‘The Beast of Bodmin Moor’ here:
We hope you enjoy them as much as we do. See Kadia 11am-1pm on Sunday April 12th and again at our Bath Folk Festival Special, Sunday August 9th 2015.
